BPL Football : Rafael helps Sheikh Russel beat Arambagh KS 2-1

Dhaka, May 9 (UNB) – Two late strikes by Brazilian forward Alex Rafael guided Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra to beat Arambagh Krira Sangha by 2-1 goals in their opening 2nd phase match of the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Sylhet District Stadium on Thursday. Despite the day’s victory, Sheikh Russel KC remained at the 3rd slot in the 13-team league after Bashundhara Kings and Dhaka Abahani securing 30 points from their 13 matches while Arambagh KS remained at the 5th place with their previous credit of 19 points.
Sheikh Russel KC got an early blow as Arambagh mid-fielder Zahid Hossain put his team ahead in the 39th minute (1-0).
In the 2nd half, hosts Sheikh Russel KC started a good brand of football with their attacking football to dominate over Arambagh KS and took its fruits in the last five minutes of the match.
Alex Rafael scored twice in a span of only five minutes (86th and 91st minute) to snatch an important victory from Arambagh KS (2-1).
On Friday, Dhaka Mohammedan SC will face Team BJMC at 4pm at the Shaheed Bulu Stadium in Noakhali while Saif Sporting Club will play Rahmatganj MFS at 7pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
