Sk Russel taste first BPL victory

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ltd tasted their first victory in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League football, powered by Bashundhara Group, as they beat the high-flying Saif Sporting Club by 1-0 goal in their third match at the Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Sunday.The former BPL champions played two draws in their first two matches against Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd and Chattogram Abahoni Ltd respectively. With the day’s feat, the club earned a total of 5 points.

Besides, the high-flying Saif tasted their first defeat in the league. Earlier, they beat Bangladesh Police Football Club by a 1-0 goal and Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society by 3-1 goals in their first two matches. Despite losing points, Saif have been sharing the same slot along with reigning champions Bashundhara Kings with 6 points each.

Sheikh Russel’s Kyrgyz defender Aizar Akmatov scored the match-winner converting a spot-kick correctly in the 39th minute (1-0) of the game. Sheikh Russel were awarded a penalty as Saif vice-captain cum defender Riyadul Hasan Rafi illegally tackled their forward Mohammad Jewel inside the box.
